When a "Thank You" is Not Enough

I was watching this local popular noon time show where contestants are asked to perform a short presentation of their talents.
The host would always say that the whole world is watching.
This is somewhat true, since the program is shown on a delayed basis in other parts of the world where the TV station has a presence.
The last contestant performed very well.
I would say that she'd be first place if it were a dance contest.
This wasn't however.
On a typical day, the host would give a certain amount, not actually as a prize but as a token perhaps.
But on this particular day, the audience was so impressed that they asked for an encore from her and her partner.
The host too, was apparently impressed that he gave the contestant four times the usual amount.
Just thanking her wouldn't have been enough for the host. Or so it seemed.
The host just had to give something more than mere words, albeit quite sincere for all the world to see.
But come to think of it, now everything has to have a monetary equivalent.
Every act however heroic it appears to be, have to be acknowledged by giving the doer some financial reward or anything tangible and valuable.
Where a sincere thanks would do, now you have to give an equivalent amount of money.
This isn't good.

The World is Not an Apple

I am beginning to hate apples.
Did someone say "an apple a day keeps the doctor away?"
Do you know that the crunchy sound of an apple being eaten is irritating to my ears?
I might just be a bit crankier today than most days, but this has been going on for quite sometime now.
I certainly could not stand it.
How do you bite your apple?
Do you do it with all abandon, not giving second thoughts to the irritating crunchy sound you make when you bite it?
I find it really annoying, specially if it is being done by a girl.
Isn't it more civilized if you bite your apple with more finesse and breeding?
I would prefer that you bite your apple without any sound at all.
Then that would make my world a bit more pleasant.
Then yes the world might just turn out to be an apple after all.
Which is good.

A Toast to Pain

I have been chest pain free for the last three years, after my angioplasty in January of 2006.
The pain started again early last December of 2008.
My cardiologist suggested that I undergo a thallium scan to determine if my heart is pumping adequately.
I did have it and the results were not encouraging.
The results of the scan revealed that I may have another blockage developing in my heart so my cardiologist ordered another angiogram.
He said that depending on the results of the angiogram, I should prepare myself for a bypass surgery.
I should have undergone the angiogram as soon as possible, but my finances prevents me from doing it now.
I have to wait until first week of February.
God willing, I will survive until then.
Pain is not good, but since it is not killing me right now, it gives me strength.
Pain doesn't kill; it is the ailment that causes it that does.
Until then, waiting is good.

Planning for My Life's Journey

Every new year is a time for planning ahead.
It is always a good exercise, mental and digital, to sit down, type your thoughts on the PC and see what comes out in the end.
I have been planning to start something good again this year and I thought, why not pick up from where I left and start blogging again.
So a new journey for this blogger begins.
A trip to nowhere but begins from where I am now.
With crankiness as my POV.
So like I said, don't ask, just tell me.
I will welcome your own crankiness here.
This is good.

On and Off This Crazy Blogophere

I've been on and off blogging for the past year.
I started blogging using another free platform.
After about six months, I got my own domain. It lasted for almost a year.
I earned something from that blog, enough to recover what I spent for hosting.
With the money I earned from it, I was able to buy some books and CD's from ebay.
It was good for me.
